This would be especially cute for fall and is a great small project using cotton yarn.
Skill level: Beginner
Finished size: About 4–5 inches
Yarn: Orange 100% cotton
Hook: H/8 (5.0 mm), or the size that gives you a firm fabric
Other: Yarn needle and scissors, tacky glue, and 1 skewer
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Pattern:
Round 1: Ch 2. Make 8 sc in the second chain from the hook. Join with a sl st. (8)
Round 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in each stitch around. Join. (16)
Round 3: Ch 1. 1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch. Repeat around. Join. (24) Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Stem
Using a small amount of brown, green, or even your orange yarn:
Ch 4. Sc in the second chain from the hook and in the next 2 chains. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Sew the stem to the top of your pumpkin.
Attach
Using your tapestry needle and a small amount of yarn, stitch the pumpkin securely to the skewer.
You can wrap a little orange yarn around the top of the skewer, under the pumpkin, to give a finished look.
Also, I used a little Tacky glue on the top of the skewer to hold
