Granny square plant stake

 

 

Materials Needed:

G – 6/4.00 mm steel hook
Cotton yarn

Finishing Materials:

Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Tacky glue
bamboo skewer

Finished Size: 2 1/2″ X 2 1/2″

Gauge: Not important to overall size

Make 2 

Rnd 1) Ch 4, dc in ch 1 of ch 4, dc in circle 2 times, ch 2, *3 dc in circle, ch 2; repeat 2 more times, slip st in ch 3.

 

Rnd 2) slst in next two dc, slip st in ch 2, ch 3, 2 dc in ch space, ch 2, 3 dc in same chain space, ch 1 * in the next ch 2 space, 3 dc, ch 2, 3dc in same space, ch 1: repeat from * two more times. Join in the first ch 3 st. End weaving in ends.

 

Take the two gs and place front sides facing together; whip-stitch the 4th side about halfway along the 4th side, then turn inside right. Slip your wooden dowel or plant stake inside the pocket between the squares, and stitch the remaining top edge closed around the stick. I also added a dab of tacky glue to the dowel to touch the yarn inside the square, to give it extra hold.

Now it’s ready to add to your plant.
