This quick, easy crochet dishcloth uses simple double crochet stitches. It’s a great beginner-friendly project that works up quickly and is perfect for using 100% cotton yarn.
Materials
- Worsted weight 100% cotton yarn
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Finished Size
Approximately 7 × 7 inches

Pattern
Chain 24.
Row 1: Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each chain across. 22 dc
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Dc in each stitch across. 22 dc
Rows 3–14: Repeat Row 2, or continue until the dishcloth measures approximately 7 inches long.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Optional Border
For a simple finished edge, attach your yarn in any corner.
Round 1: Ch 1. Work sc evenly around the entire dishcloth, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Finishing
Lay the dishcloth flat and gently shape it into a square. If needed, lightly dampen and lay flat to dry.
Your finished dishcloth should measure approximately 7 × 7 inches.
