Easy Crochet Drawstring Change Purse
This little crochet change purse is quick, simple, and perfect for holding loose change, jewelry, stitch markers, or other small treasures. The drawstring closure makes it easy to open and close without needing a zipper or button.

Materials
- Small amount of worsted-weight cotton yarn
- H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- About 24″ of cotton cord or yarn for the drawstring
Pattern
Make the Bottom
Round 1: Make a magic ring. Ch 1, work 6 sc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (6 sc)
Round 2: Ch 1. Work 2 sc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st. (12 sc)
Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st. Repeat around. Join with a sl st. (18 sc)
Round 4: Ch 1. Sc in the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next st. Repeat around. Join with a sl st. (24 sc)
Make the Sides
Rounds 5–12: Ch 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st. (24 sc)
Do not fasten off yet.
Make the Drawstring Row
Round 13: Ch 1. Sc in the next 2 sts, ch 1, skip the next st. Repeat around. Join with a sl st.
This creates small openings for the drawstring.
Round 14: Ch 1. Sc in each sc and in each ch-1 space around. Join with a sl st.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Add the Drawstring
Cut approximately 24″ of cotton cord or yarn.
Using a yarn needle, weave the cord through the openings created in Round 13.
Bring both ends together and tie a knot or bow.
Pull the drawstring to close the purse.
